Transit Travel Pack 45L

The 45L is the full US carry-on allowance in a backpack, and nothing more. At 55 × 35 × 23 cm it sits inside the 56 × 36 × 23 limit the major carriers publish, and an expansion zip adds another five litres for the trip home when the bag no longer needs to fit a sizer. Same clamshell opening and mesh divider as the smaller Transits, plus the separate bottom compartment for shoes and laundry.

The shell is 840-denier recycled nylon with a polyurethane coating on a TPU-laminated base, and the harness is the most padded in the range because 45 litres of clothes is a real load. Water-resistant coil zippers lock at the main compartment. The suspended laptop sleeve fits a 16-inch machine, and the hip belt stows into its channel. Empty weight is 1.65 kg.

Questions

Is the 45L legal on European budget airlines? Not in the cabin. It is 55 cm tall but 35 cm wide and 23 cm deep, over the 40 × 20 cm priority-bag limits on Ryanair and easyJet. For Europe, take the 35L.

What does the expansion zip do? It adds about five litres of depth, to 50 litres. Expanded, the bag is no longer carry-on compliant, so use it for the return leg or when you plan to check it.

How heavy is it packed for two weeks? Expect 10 to 12 kg with clothes and a laptop. The stowable hip belt exists for exactly this; use it.
